I have visited Father's Heart a number of times since my first trip to NYC in 2000. The feeding program on Saturday morning was an awesome experience I will never forget. Helping at the Kid's Zone, serving food and most of all just talking and playing with the amazing children was another great experience. I will never forget my first worship service at Father's Heart. I was truly a life changing experience where I prayed and talked with a homeless person.
The staff are truly amazing and God fearing, loving Christians. Pastor Chuck and Pastor Carol are wonderful people.
I look forward to returning each year to see familiar faces and see how they continually are making changes to their ministry to be sure they are meeting the needs of those in their community.
God bless them all!!

| I am a freshman at Bishop Ford H.S. and as part of my high school requirement, I had to volunteer 25 hours a semester. After volunteering at Father's Heart ministries and several other places around the city. I plan on giving my time to help organizations that help those in need. Young people should become more involved in their communities and politics. |

I grew up in New York City. I lived with an abusive stepfather. Over time, I lost a brother and a sister to gang violence. The death of my brother and sister was very hard for me. It was at that time that drugs were introduced to me by a friend. Drugs led me to jail. I was in and out of drug programs. Eventually, my family would no longer take me in because of my lifestyle. I was full of hate because I thought that they did not understand my pain. However, it was I who did not know how to deal with the pain. I blamed them for my problems. The next step of my life was homelessness due to my drug addiction. I had low self esteem, and I needed a change in my life.
I went to a Christian rehabilitation center, and turned my life around. A friend eventually lead me to The Father’s Heart Ministries. I began going every week to the ministry and church services. God started opening doors for me and in a few months I got an apartment, and gained a new family in the church.

My name is Brunilda. I was born in Catano, Puerto Rico. My family came to New York City when I was 7. My early childhood was riddled with beatings from my mother and older siblings, sexual abuse from a trusted family member, and very cold winters. At the tender age of 12 I turned to drugs and alcohol to push down my hurt and loneliness. From all the emotional turmoil I developed a learning disability. My time spent in school was just another source of torment and degradation.
After two failed marriages, and two children, I wanted to change my life. For 7 years I worked with a psycho therapist. She suggested I attend alcoholics anonymous, which I did. I also attended an overcomers outreach which is a Christ centered 12 steps group. I opened my heart to Jesus for the first time. He saved me from myself and my unraveling life.
I first started attending The Father’s Heart Ministries to be part of the overcomers outreach meeting. When I first met Pastor Perry at that meeting I was impressed by his loving manner. I felt the same acceptance from all the other pastors and members as well. The Father’s Heart Church has been a blessing to my life and my continued spiritual growth in our Lord Jesus. |
